Welcome remarks by the President of the AEGPL

Since being elected as AEGPL President last summer, I have had the opportunity to see first-hand the importance of the association and the Congress itself to the development of the LPG industry in Europe.

Almost every year, AEGPL is asked why it decides to bring its annual event to a city – in many cases there is a growing LPG market, as was the case with Bucharest last year, or perhaps a large number of companies working in the LPG business in that country offering the chance of many more business connections for participants.

This Congress, however, has a new dimension, as it will take place in the beating heart of Europe, just a few steps from the institutions of the European Union: Brussels has been chosen as the host city of the AEGPL Congress for the simple reason that the European energy debate, how it affects LPG, and of course how LPG can contribute to helping Europe achieve its energy goals, are becoming more and more important every year. The Congress will see a number of high profile speakers from within and outside the LPG industry discuss how the sector can make the most of the changing energy and environmental priorities of the European Union.

As well as offering this unique opportunity for representatives of our sector to meet with the decision-makers who influence their business environment, Brussels will no doubt be a great place for suppliers and purchasers to meet and do business. Looking through the enormous list of exhibitors with companies from all around the world, this year’s exhibition will be the western hemisphere’s most important showcase of LPG materials.

With Brussels and Belgium offering a wealth of interesting sightseeing opportunities for those who wish to stay on a little longer, I encourage all members of the LPG sector in Europe and beyond to join us. See you in Brussels!

AEGPL – THE LPG INDUSTRY’S VOICE IN EUROPE

AEGPL is a dynamic platform providing a forum for the sharing of expertise developed by LPG operators from all across Europe.

This exchange of experiences generates innovative proposals and action plans, contributing to the energy policy objectives of national and European authorities.

AEGPL’s overriding goal is to stimulate the creation of an appropriate legal framework applicable to the European LPG industry in order to develop the contribution of LPG as a sustainable energy beneficial for society as a whole.

AEGPL is comprised of national LPG associations, representing the main European LPG suppliers, distributors and equipment manufacturers. The structure is designed to facilitate the active participation of members in both the strategic objectives of the association and the corresponding input into the legislative process. For this latter task, the specialised working groups - composed of industry experts - are of particular importance.

In order to ensure its participation in the promotion of LPG at the international level, AEGPL cooperates closely with the World LPG Association.
